Friday skywatch. Blue.

Last Friday I was on the Greek island of Rhodes enjoying warm temperatures and a clear blue sky.

But now I'm back home in Blighty dodging winds and sudden heavy rain showers. I sneak outside between the bouts of rainfall and check on plants that might need to be staked. So far so good, the delphiniums are holding their own. My sky is grey but the delphiniums are providing some much appreciated blue!

Joining Friday skywatch to see skies from all around the world.

  1. Blue skies in Greece? Oh, lucky you!
Need to catch up (if I ever do?) -- but glad to see you're still at it! Good job, you!

    1. A blast of real warmth was just what we were in need of. English 'summer' weather can be a bit of a joke!

    1. I'm delighted with that colour as well, Susan. I grew the plants from seed collected from a dark blue delphinium so wasn't expecting to see this variation in colour.

    1. Dear Rain, I would send you some hot and sunny if I could, along with a bit more for myself! I'm about to post many photos of the hotel where we were staying - you may just turn green.

  5. The delphiniums are a wonderful colour and to me - the non-gardener - they look very well and healthy.
We've been having blue skies for a few days now, but thankfully, there has been some rain in between. Nobody here is keen on a repeat of last year's months and months of drought.

    1. Yes, the delphiniums are standing up well (so far!) and giving me great pleasure. Heavy rain continues here, interspaced by some short spells of sunshine. Everything is very green, so different from last year.

  6. Beautiful delphiniums! Do you have some sort of staking system to keep them up? -Jenn

    1. I always intend to stake well early in the year but never quite manage to live up to my good intentions. I've got a few sticks in the delphiniums but they are now on a bit of a lean and in need of further attention. Its definitely a skill I've yet to learn.

  7. Oo, Rhodes! Never been and would love to one day. My faves, too, are blues (and mauves) in gardens.
