The weather is simply glorious and everything is bursting into life. It's good to be outside, unplugged from the radio and its constant stream of tragic news. Tonight all the members of our little hamlet will be outside at eight o'clock banging drums, blowing whistles and making as much noise as we can to show our appreciation of all that the NHS and other workers are doing to save lives in this dreadful crisis. No one will hear us, we are a rural community, there is space around us and we can barely hear each other. The village whatsapp is in overdrive and we seem to have returned to earlier times as products are shared and exchanged. One villager bought a huge sack of strong flour and everyone was invited to take some. Another villager has set up a table on their lawn on which are placed offerings of eggs and veg. I've given away veg seeds and am growing on plenty of veg plants to share. We stand at a safe distance from each other, pleased to have a conversation 'in the flesh'.
The pear tree is a mass of bloom
and as some flowers fade
other favourites are looking good.
Pesky little insects on the tree peony!
and I'm waiting for this bud to open
it has never flowered before.
In this time of tragic news, spring came, and it was never needed more.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's great solace indeed that nature continues to unfold all it's beauty while this human tragedy continues unabashed. I hope, dear Maybe, that you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to celebrate. Pictures are very pretty too. Happy Weekend.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Easter. I'm posting a cake recipe today - something for your happy whisk!
DeleteI saw your cake. Well done. I love the outlook of just making it work. Go you!
DeleteForgetmenots are among my favourite flowers! All of this is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteForget-me-nots seed themselves with gay abandon all about my garden and I'm very happy with that. They create such a pleasing blue mist of colour, (although they sometimes also turn up pink and white!)
DeleteAnother beautiful day. Wishing you a happy, though different, Easter.
As my home-page intro states: "I always re-comment on comments and (I imply) I'll even go as far re-re-re-comenting on re-re comments." If I were a dog I'd be a spaniel, fussing around, wanting to be loved. So here I am, the result of your incautiously leaving a shortie with Tone Deaf, not the best blog-title for someone who has been taking solo singing lessons for the last four years, having started at age 80.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I am not, alas, is a gardener. Earth is the least satisfactory medium to work in. Dig a hole and a third of the excavate falls back in: one becomes Sisyphus without the rock. Though, speaking of which, 11 in. below the surface of my garden is an unending supply of builder's rubble. Yes I have a garden and I pay a neighbour to labour on my behalf. He's my age and occasionally I suffer twinges of guilt. But just twinges, nothing affecting my adamantine morality.
I note you describe yourself in terms of 100 items. I admire your time management; I see this project started in 2011 and lasted many months. I am more profligate. Under the heading Literary ton, I sought to list "a hundred works of fiction (novels, poems, stage and TV plays) which have satisfied me at one time or another." More than that I "tried to avoid obvious titles" And wherever possible "pretentiousness". The post was longer than usual (I'm a retired journalist and I limit posts to 300 words) but when I'd finished that was one day done. What next? A satisfying thousand titles? The same list but translated into French?
I see things are "bursting into life" in your garden. Mine too. Don't get me wrong, I don't disapprove of this, I merely waive responsibility. My wife and I sit on the patio, admire the view, drink a bottle of chilled white, make a vow to spend more money on the next bottle, then go inside. I'm sure our relationship will fructify but I suspect you will be more cautious on this matter. On verra.
'Cautious' moi? You are talking to West Riding stock.
Delete"Earth is the least satisfactory medium to work in.' I cannot agree, it is magical stuff. Treat yourself to a truck load of compost and prepare to be amazed!
How beautiful this all is. Absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteStrange times, all this beauty while the daily death toll rises.
DeleteI really want to thank Dr Emu for saving my marriage. My wife really treated me badly and left home for almost 3 month this got me sick and confused. Then I told my friend about how my wife has changed towards me. Then she told me to contact Dr Emu that he will help me bring back my wife and change her back to a good woman. I never believed in all this but I gave it a try. Dr Emu casted a spell of return of love on her, and my wife came back home for forgiveness and today we are happy again.
