'ere tis!

Today's delivery - my tripod ladder! I'm delighted with it, its light enough to carry about with ease and absolutely stable. I should have bought one years ago. I bought the second size up. All three legs can extend and take me up higher than this, which will make it suitable for most jobs around the garden. There is a mass of work that I can do with it quite apart from thinning out the apple trees. I hope it isn't too late in the season for me to be pruning them as they are already starting to bud up.
The 'St Patrick's Day' daffodils were open on their name day.

Cold winds have given the camellias quite a bashing. I've done a lot of dead heading so that I can enjoy the flower heads that have not been too damaged.

The flowers don't last for long, but what a joy they are while they bloom.
Just look at the beauty of the unfolding bud.
This is 'Lavinia Maggi.'
Delicious!

  2. Oh, so it's metal! I had in my mind a rustic wooden contraption. You look nice and safe, so that's good. Money well spent.

I love camellias! We used to grow C. sasanquas which flower in the autumn and they drop their petals too quickly to brown up and so leave a glorious coloured carpet. Our garden wasn't in the right zone for japonicas.

    1. In an ideal world it would be a beautiful-looking wooden orchard ladder (and I would have an obliging, knowledgeable full-time gardener!) But this one is light to move about and feels oh so steady. Ugly, yes, but I'm delighted with it.

    2. I should have bought one years ago, Doc. I've been looking at them on-line for long enough but could never quite justify the purchase. Seeing this Hendon brand at the show convinced me. All three legs can be adjusted for awkward sites and it can be brought inside to use when decorating. Win win!
(You can't see the weeds in my photos. Ground elder***!!!)

  4. I do not know how your garden can go through all the damage from last year and still be so beautiful. I always enjoy when you post photos of your garden. Gardener help or not you have the most lovely garden.

    1. There has been a price to pay for last year's extreme (for Blighty) weather. There are dead trees to remove and areas of lawn that never recovered and are now dead patches. But spring has definitely sprung and it is great to be back outdoors and doing stuff.
      The ladder is great!
