We've been in Bournemouth this week, looking after our grandson while his parents were working on their house.
Although the weather forecast had been poor, on Friday the sun shone. Time to drop tools and go for a walk on the beach. We watched the paragliders who were swooping along the coastline, taking advantage of the steady updraft.
A perfect subject for Friday Skywatch.
The beach huts are council owned and are rented out for daily use. On the upper level are the newer lodges that can sleep up to four adults and two children. They are kitted out with bathroom, kitchenette and beds. Although a lot of fun, I think you might feel rather like sardines in a tin with full occupation!
Two of the lodges were being decorated with balloons and banners in preparation for a party.
We had the beach pretty much to ourselves.
Nothing for the lifeguard to do.

Love those colourful beach huts. Snowing still? Unusual for Bournemouth.
ReplyDeleteYes, snow is VERY unusual for Bournemouth. When the beach huts are occupied in the summer months they make me very nosy, I can't resist looking in at all the small domestic scenes. Perhaps when our grandson is older we shall get into the queue to rent one.
DeleteYour top image is simply grand!! It has wonderful color [the beach huts], excellent geometric shapes, dynamic converging diagonal lines [along with contrasting verticals] and nicely repeating shapes. Last but not least, you caught some action [the paraglider against the sky]. There is a lot to see and discuss about this image...kudos...
ReplyDeleteHello Stanley, and thank you for your fulsome praise. I waited for quite a while until the yellow canopy came into shot as I knew exactly what I wanted to capture. My camera is a small point and shoot and the viewfinder is very obscure. In the event I pretty much succeeded in getting what I had intended.
DeleteThe beach on a cold winters day.
ReplyDeleteThose huts brighten things up.
Merle..........
It was a beautiful day, Merle, not even cold. Today is very different, we have a good few inches of snow and a very grey sky.
DeleteA small world Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteI was actually born about 500 yards from that very same spot, and lived there for the first twenty years, when the pier had first a roller skating rink on the end, and then an amusement arcade. Very happy memories. I do hope the decorating went smoothly.
Smooth decorating - I wish! We are still at the moving rubble stage. After a bit of pram pushing I had a go at the enormous pampas grass in the front garden. What a beast, it's going to take quite a bit more effort before we are rid of the thing. (The Bournemouth postcard image came from yesterday's newspaper article about the book of Margot Durrell's b&b in the town.)
DeleteQuite thick snow here today. So much for spring!
When I say born there, I meant Boscombe, and is that your offspring on the pier?
ReplyDeleteYes, that's our younger daughter with her partner and our first, much adored, grandchild. We were certainly lucky with the weather!
DeleteI very much like your pattern it's beautiful, thank for sharing good i dea !
