December

Miserable, grey, damp weather, but it's December and we've got things to do! We are off to the museum and art gallery in town because we have a very important meeting arranged. We are taking the seven year old (a believer - how long will it last?) to meet Father Christmas. We park nearby. There's always something interesting to see when you are seven years old!
Somebody was on the zipwire coming down from the end of the pier.
The goats were busy keeping the vegetation on the cliffside under control.
The museum is all decked out for Christmas, decorations everywhere. The place is well decorated, Victorian style, all year round but looks especially nice at this time of year.
A lovely old-fashioned sleigh.
Then through this doorway.
We were told that Father Christmas was visiting with his wife. Wow, what a treat, this is exciting!
It was a full team outing. "Have you been a good boy?" No good looking at me , Buddy! (Daddy said nothing but I noticed that Mummy was laughing.)
It was so well done. Everyone happy and a nice present for the Boy.
Then he came home with us and helped to sweep up leaves.

  1. Not too much longer before the magic fades - so sad when that happens, but he had a lovely day with you.

    1. He was struck almost dumb with the excitement of it all! Last year we went to a place that was just a shameful rip-off but at the museum they were wonderful. They had asked for information about each child before we attended and spent ten minutes with each one. I was very impressed.

  2. The mueseum looks very christmassy indeed, and Mr and Mrs Clause appear to be genuinely nice people.

    1. It was so good. Before I booked it I'd said to my daughter that after last year I wanted something more aesthetically pleasing. She said that she didn't think that my grandson cared too much about the aesthetics! We were all delighted with our visit.

  3. Oh, enjoy! This magical belief will only last so long, as you know, but how much fun while it lives.
    The museum looks so inviting!

    1. It is probably the last time that he will see Father Christmas with no doubts as to the reality. This one was the real Father Christmas he told me, because his beard was real and not just stuck on!

    1. It was so well done, Susan, not like last year in a shed in a muddy patch!

  5. "Father Christmas" instead of "Santa Claus" sounds so strange and exotic to my ears! I love it. :) I also love the photos you shared.

    1. Mother Christmas was a new experience for us. Our grandson was very overwhelmed and shy about meeting them. Now everyday he has the excitement of the naughty elf, which I think is an American import!
