The story so far!
A dry day, cold but no wind, just the thing for having two holes put in our roof! This was the state of play first thing in the morning.
Yes, there is a large oak tree that overhangs our house from a neighbouring garden. And, yes, there are always plenty of leaves to clear. There is a tree preservation order on all the trees around us because we are in a conservation area of former woodland. (But the leaves make great compost.)
The kitchen was ready for action.
But in the early afternoon work stopped. What's this? It was because the main workman had fallen off a ladder. WHAT!!! Off he went to hospital to check whether he's broken any ribs. The cover is on. I hope it will be able to be removed tomorrow so that work can proceed.
Now that one of the windows has been put in place on the ceiling it looks rather small.
We are all scrunched up in a corner of the kitchen. it will be good when it's done! Hey ho.

Oh dear, I hope the workman is o.k. and can continue with the job in hand. The Velux windows should make a big difference. When Doug and his late wife bought this house he had Velux type windows installed in the bathroom and hall and they make an enormous difference. I often check that the light isn't on when passing the bathroom as there is so much light.
ReplyDeleteChris, the workman, is back on the job this morning. Cracked ribs but very cheerful! They are working on the second window as I type and I think the end result will be good.
DeleteDid not realize from your post they would be skylites.
ReplyDeleteThe windows are now in but unfortunately the work is not complete as our workman began to feel that he wasn't breathing very well and ended up in hospital!
DeleteWhat a relief that the workman was not badly injured! Still... amazing that he came back to work the following day.
ReplyDeleteEven on a dull day, natural light makes such a difference, doesn't it.
See above!!
DeleteLove the picture wall at the end.
ReplyDeleteCome see, Gary!
DeleteThe skylights will be lovely when finished. Home renovations seem to always run into difficulties big or small. Glad the workman is doing well.
ReplyDeleteSome things go like clockwork. other things don't! This job seems to be the latter.
