It doesn't take much of an excuse for our community to plan a get-to-gether. Yesterday a picnic was held to celebrate the queen's ninetieth birthday. Everyone dug out their picnic chairs and cutlery and brought a contribution of food to share.
A canopy had been set out in the vicarage garden.
A cake baked
and eaten!
Everyone had a lovely time.
(Goodness, what's happening? A bank holiday and now a picnic with NO RAIN!)
I love these English community picknicks.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's hard to beat lounging about outside with good food and conversation!
DeleteI love that Rosemary. In honor of the Queen's birthday. I love her. They don't make them like herself anymore.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know, Donna, I know one or two!
DeleteAnnie Leibovitz has taken some photos of the Queen to celebrate her birthday. On an earlier sitting she asked the Queen to remove her crown for a 'less dressy' look. The Queen is reported to have said, "Less dressy? What do you think this is?"
Looks like a great event wishing she had a happy birthday, we have a holiday in honour of her birthday.
ReplyDeleteMerle............
It was lovely, Merle. Plenty of lawn for the children to run about on while the adults sat about and chatted. (I could say 'gossiped!)
DeleteI would love to have lunch and cake in the Vicarage Garden.
ReplyDeletecheers. parsnip and thehamish
How nice that would be, Parsnip. And thehamish could join the labrador in the shade of the tree.
