A bit of weather.

8.30 in the morning a large limb from an oak tree came down and blocked our road for a while. It is fortunate that no-one was passing by just at that moment. We are experiencing wet and windy weather and a fair bit of debris has fallen onto the roads and pavements. I'm fearful of the massive oak that grows in our neighbours' garden and hangs over our roof!
The council were quickly on site to clear it all away.

  1. As you say, lucky no-one was under it. Could have done a lot of damage. Hope your neighbours' oak stays put.

    1. It is a busy road at 8.30 in the morning, so a good job that no car or person was hit.

  2. Phew! No damage done - this time. Can you talk to your neighbour about their tree?
My mother-in-law in Ripon had a situation like that; eventually, the tree that endangered not only her cottage but also the owner's had to be cut down. It's always a shame when a big old tree has to go, but in this case it was a question of safety for two elderly ladies living on their own.

    1. Just the removal of the most threaten limbs would make me feel more reassured.

  3. Discussion with neighbour required. This makes for a good opportunity.
We managed a quick clear up of soggy nasturtiums etc. yesterday in time for last garden bin collection today before winter break.

    1. I've been outside doing the same, Tasker, bagging up leaves and putting other green stuff into the garden bin for tomorrow's collection. It's good to be out after days of heavy rain.
We are in a conservation area but shall talk with the neighbour and the council and see if something can be cut back to ease my concerns!

  4. Hello! I believe we have the same name (but for a letter or two at the end). Thank you for commenting on my blog, it's good to have you around the table. That tree fall is scary, and I do agree that it offers an opening to discuss cutting back the branches of your neighbor's tree that overhangs your house. Be safe, and happy holidays.

  6. A bit of weather... I love it !
You need to go out and talk to the tree and tell it how much you love this oak tree. Maybe that could help
