The boggy end of our small pond is full of damp moss. The birds love it! They come and pull away strands of growth, I think it is being used for nest building.
There are primroses everywhere, but much of the yellow of early spring is now fading and red, pink and blue colours are coming into flower. I bought an assortment of one hundred tulip bulbs last autumn and put them in pots covered with chicken wire to keep those pesky squirrels from eating the lot. It has worked!
The camellias are still hanging on and the tree peonies are braving the bitter winds.
Tree
peonies are very special to me as they were one of my father's
favourite flowers. His garden was protected by a high wall so his
plants grew into large bushes whereas mine tend to get cut back by the
wind and never achieve any size. I shall have to think of relocating
them to somewhere more sheltered.
Can you see the bee enjoying the pollen? We've set out the garden furniture. Ever hopeful!
My favourite picture here is the one with the forgetmenots. I love them, and find them rather difficult to photograph - blue against green is not easily picked up by a camera, and pictures tend to come out nowhere near as beautiful as what the human eye can see.
ReplyDeleteI'd move that lounger to a sunny spot, wrap myself in a cosy throw or plaid and snooze in the afternoon sun!
My garden is full of fotget-me-nots, they are such good-doers. And, yes, it is true, blue is very difficult to capture with the camera.
DeleteIn the afternoon the sun comes round to the spot by the topiary, at which point Himself does just as you suggest!
Pretty pretty pretty!! Thanks for sharing! ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteVery happy to share my flowers with you, Andrea.
DeleteI see her, and I see the bird on the bird!
ReplyDeleteWell spotted, that's our very noisy blackbird. The garden is full of bird life just now, even a very cheeky robin who follows me in and out of the house.
DeleteLovely to see all the spring flowers as we head towards winter.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't FEEL very spring-like, the wind is biting. Those flowers are tougher than me!
DeleteI look at your blog often and am finally leaving a comment. That pond is so cool and the peonies- my favorite flower- are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your garden!
Hello and welcome, Lynn. Like you, I love peonies. Tree peonies were one of my father's favourite flowers and I would buy one each year for his birthday.
