Thunder, lightening, rain, sun...

There  is nothing monotonous about the weather in Blighty. We seem to be getting a bit of everything each day at the moment. When its wet it is VERY wet, quickly followed by a warm, sunny patch. What weather for growth! In the short spells when it isn't raining I'm outside cutting back, hacking away at rampant growth. The storm at the weekend battered some plants down and flattened the grass. The thunder growled again for quite a while today but nothing much came of it. I wander round the garden in the moist, warm air and marvel at the tenacity of nature, how quickly it would revert to wild without my efforts. It rather looks as though it has got the better of me now.

The wood man came today so we are stocked for winter. The logs are well seasoned and will burn well. There is something very satisfying about seeing a wood store piled high!

  1. It is always good to have a well stocked wood supply. Your weather sounds like ours at present.

    1. While it is very changeable weather it isn't cold, so I am happy.
I don't want to think about winter just yet, but the wood pile is a gladsome sight!

  2. Same here in Germany, the weather changes from one minute to the next and one is well advised not to leave the house without a raincoat.
I love that picture with the stone wall!

    1. The light was just rimming our bit of topiary, supposed to be a pheasant, so I had to take a photo. The gap by the wall is where we walk from the house to the garage.

    1. Ha ha. Just you wait 'till you're back in God's own country and your fancy schmancy Italian haircut is crammed under a rain hat and the hood of a cagoul! (Just jealous!)

  5. These pictures are just gorgeous, Rosemary! So peaceful... and so is a well-stocked woodpile. It's hard to think of winter but it will be here before we know it. ~Andrea xoxoxo

    1. It is VERY peaceful in our hamlet, that is until our neighbour gets out his noisy gardening tools and attempts to obliterate nature. Strimmers, mowers, weedkiller, you name it. Luckily he is the exception, the rest of the community are busy growing and rewilding their plots.
