And I forgot to mention mist!
This lovely article was in last Saturday's Times newspaper, a homage to the Yorkshire Dales. It has prompted me to search for a book that will help me to identify the various wild flowers. I used to be far more knowledgeable about them as a child, walking out with my father to collect grasses and flowers to press and label. I have one or two old books, an Observers book of grasses and one of wild flowers, but the images are so poor that clear identification is in doubt.
I'm glad I've just had a visit to the dales, otherwise this article would have made me feel very homesick!
Looks very damp and soggy.
ReplyDeleteIt is, and the weeds love it!
DeleteI just love your garden.
ReplyDeleteIt gives me a great deal of pleasure, Susan - and work!
DeleteYour garden is wonderful no matter the weather, with or without mist.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about Yorkshire and, after two years without my usual Yorkshire holiday, miss it very much.
Happily in the many decades that I've known it the Yorkshire Dales have changed very little and will feel just the same as ever on your return.

ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful garden! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it as you know, but blimey, in all this rain, Rain, the WEEDS!!!
DeleteLovely misty photos of your beautiful garden. I have a couple of old wild flower illustrated books, but would love specifically a Cornish Hedgerows one to help with identification. It's funny isn't it how you can miss the plants from different regions and where you grew up. I miss some of the muddy river mersey fauna. Lulu x
ReplyDeleteCornish Hedgerows sounds a good title for a book - perhaps you should publish?! The drawings in my old books are very poor, I am going to look for one with really clear photos.
