St Patrick's Day

Our St Patrick's Day daffodils are flowering right on cue. They are a cheering sight in rather grim times. It appears that Himself and I are officially old and are to be confined to quarters for the foreseeable future, so anything cheerful is very welcome.
As I wander round the garden I can see things springing into life, with buds forming on the pear trees,
shrubs full of blossom,
and my lovely camellias in flower.
There are still a few things to harvest from the veg garden along with a fresh crop of purple sprouting.
I'm planning what to grow during the coming season with greater care than usual so that we can be as self-sufficient as possible. Our holiday plans have to be cancelled, visits too and from family have stopped. If I spend a lot more time blogging you'll know the reason why!
Go carefully and keep well, folks.

  1. I'm excited to grow beans again this year. We have a small area but I should be able to sneak some in. Stay safe and garden on!

    1. I grow climbing French beans, 'Blue Lake' and 'Cobra'. Both varieties are prolific and very tasty, I pick and pick when they are young and have enough seeds to store at the end of each season to supply the entire village!
Endless rain is keeping me indoors. I am itching to be out.

    2. Very cool. Thank you for the tips on the French beans. Most of my seeds are shipped but ... there are a few more I have my eye on. I'll see if I can find Blue Lake and Cobra. Much thanks, Ivy.

    1. Stuck indoors until the weather improves so I'm rifling through my seed packets and planning what to plant where. It looks as though we shall be self-isolating for months so I intend to make every bit of ground as productive as possible.

  3. What a lovely place to be confined in. This morning we got to the market early and as I watched the people leaving I saw people with one or two bags and some with several bottles of wine but many had Daffodils in their basket. Beauty can be found.
It is a smallish market so they only allowed 2 of the same item. Flowers and wine seem a nice idea.
    Be safe

    1. Yes, it's true, Parsnip, we are very lucky to have garden space all around us where we can walk or work without fear of contact with the virus. It must be horrible for those people who are confined without outdoor space.
Your market sounds nice, and a shop involving flowers and wine must be very uplifting!

  4. With such a beautiful garden to enjoy, being confined to the home will not be quite as hard as it is on those who live in a flat somewhere on the 12th floor.
It is hard not be able to see family, but the wise thing to do; same here.

    1. Oh, I agree, we are very fortunate compared to many. We Facetime with family, but virtual cuddles with our grandson are not as good as real ones!

  5. I really want to thank Dr Emu for saving my marriage. My wife really treated me badly and left home for almost 3 month this got me sick and confused. Then I told my friend about how my wife has changed towards me. Then she told me to contact Dr Emu that he will help me bring back my wife and change her back to a good woman. I never believed in all this but I gave it a try. Dr Emu casted a spell of return of love on her, and my wife came back home for forgiveness and today we are happy again.
