For just a few short weeks each year the woodland floor is carpeted in blue.
Our native wild bluebell.
We've had no serious rainfall for weeks and the ground is dry.
Pleasurable walking.
The new leaves are a fresh, bright green.
Other wild flowers mingle with the bluebells.
It's a lovely time of year.
Your pictures look like Claude Monet's paintings. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a flattering comparison, Maybe! I've stood in front of his huge paintings many times, engulfed in colour, and, yes, the sensation is similar to that of being in the bluebell wood. One of the best garden visits that I've ever made was to his garden in Giverny, an absolute joy!
DeleteIt truly is a lovely time of year. Your photos are stunning Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Doc. It's just a case of point and shoot at all that glorious blue.
DeleteSuch beauty. No rainfall in England for weeks. I didn't know that happened.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound very English, does it, but this is the driest spring for a decade. It is also cold and very windy, not pleasant to be out. You can't beat a Brit for complaints about the weather!
DeleteI have seen pictures of fields of bluebells among the trees and I have always wanted to walk on a path like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely post today.
cheers, parsnip
It is very special to walk into the woods at bluebell time, especially since the colour is so fleeting. I'm glad you enjoyed the post, Parsnip.
DeleteThat is so beautiful, especially when other wildflowers show up as well. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteNature at it's best, Jenn.
DeleteHi Rosemary :) Those bluebells are very lovely. What a treat to walk in the woods with such a colourful scenery!
ReplyDeleteMy childhood was spent around moorland with little experience of woodland so this environment (we live between two woods) is a delight to me as it changes so much throughout the seasons. The few short weeks of bluebell colour are the highlight.
