"Season of mists and...."

and a great deal of rainfall!
I've covered the squash with fleece because the nights are chilly and frost is threatened.
It is not a very good crop this year, there has been far too little sun for them to fully mature and I'm concerned that the skins have not hardened well enough for them to store for long. In normal years I grow enough to last at least until late spring.
Surprisingly, the coriander has loved all this wet. I have a huge amount of green seed. Will it ripen? Should I harvest the plants and hang them up indoors to dry? Advice please! Usually they dry out of doors on the plant, but this year, THIS year!!
The autumn colours are just starting to show
but there is no crisp leaf kicking
because it's wet, wet, wet.

  1. At least you have had rain, we have had very little and the gardens are parched and today they are blanketed with fog.
I suppose you are wearing your wellies and carrying a brolly!

    1. Wellies, mac, waterproof trousers, a big hat, (the brim collects the rain so that every now and then I have to tip forward and then the rain goes down the back of my neck) and not much of a smile. Too windy for a brolly.

  2. Water a source of life, and ours here is still light, drizzling gearing up for heavier downfall towards the end of the year.

    1. But you are so elusive,Tom, because whenever I click on you it comes up, 'profile not available'.

    2. I am deliberately low-profile. Like the car-tyres of that name, I go faster in that mode.

  4. I would bring half of the coriander into the house. Whichever is wrong will still leave half that is right.

  5. Oh yes to missing crisp leaf kicking & collecting. Hoping it dries out so I can gather some to decorate the dining table on Sunday.
