A present from the neighbours

Mmm, delicious - a brace of pheasant. They were shot last weekend but I've skinned them today (see my January posting 'pheasant' for the quickest and most simple way) and put the breast and leg meat in the freezer ready to make a tasty casserole in the New Year. I normally hang them for a little longer so that the flavour can develop, but the weather is quite mild and also from tomorrow the kitchen will be full of Christmas activity.
The Christmas tree is to decorate but I've mislaid the fairy. I hope you are all far better organized than I am!

  2. You can borrow my fairy if you want, Cher. Like I say though, she's 17 now and you might need a larger tree.

  3. Hi Rosemary,
It's good to see someone else who get's things ready nearer to the actual occasion, and doesn't buy in to preparing all weeks in advance, as the supermarkets would have us do. Have a happy and blessed Christmas.

  4. Our pheasants have gone into the freezer for New Year's eve party - hope they will fill the house with delicious smells. Hope the fairy has come to light.

  5. Ah! My three wise men, Christmas greetings to you and all the very best for 2012.( And thank you for the offer of your fairy, Tom, but I've found mine, a decrepit white mouse, left up in the attic. My very grown up daughters insist each year that she cannot be retired.)
Just off to the station to collect the Duchess.

Happy Christmas, Weaver. Ditto with my brace, pheasant casserole, what a good start to the New Year. (The fairy is found.)
