Orchid show
This afternoon we went to the local orchid society's annual show. The first thing to meet us at the entrance door was the beautiful perfume. The room was full of equisite flowers and busy with visitors, orchid experts and enthusiasts.
Some of the people were as colourful as the flowers!
There were orchids of all shapes and sizes.
The Boy was kept very busy painting a plant pot before planting up a small orchid of his choice.
There were many tempting plants to buy, especially so when they have been labelled as suitable for beginners!
Which colour would you choose? I like these pale colours very much
But what a spectacular blue!
The muddy browms and yellows don't appeal
but I'm always a sucker for mauves, purples and pink!

What a wonderful selection.
ReplyDeleteYes. it was a lovely show and the members that I met there were charming and very welcoming.
DeleteThe only house plants I have been given over the years (never buy any for myself) and that have managed to survive my black thumbs are one rubber tree and three potted orchids. As yellow is my favourite colour, two of these are yellow, the third one is white. I keep them at the same spot throughout the year and give them a sip of water once or twice a year. Sometimes they do not bloom for two years, but when they do, it gives me much joy.
ReplyDeleteActually, the brown ones look very elegant to me, and unusual.
We obviously relate to a different colour scheme! I didn't buy anything because during the period when my orchids have finished flowering and before a new flower stalk appears I think they look plug ugly!
DeleteWhat a wonderful show. Love the colours and the names. Something for everyone
ReplyDeleteThere were some absolute beauties!
DeleteGorgeous, exotic blooms. The coffee and cream orchid looks interesting - I wonder if its requirements are any different to the others.
ReplyDeleteI think that they all respond to similar treatment, just that some choose to be trickier than others. (As in life!)
