A walk in the woods

It's proving to be a gentle autumn. Last week  there had been little leaf fall and the countryside was still looking green, only the tops of trees that had been caught by the breeze were shedding their leaves.

But this week the nights are colder and the landscape is changing. Light levels are low in this dank, misty weather.

Now I can kick my way through a carpet of dry leaves.

And just look at what a little cheating on photoshop can do!

  1. Good gracious Rosemary. Photoshop does make a difference. I don't have it on my Mac. Same weather. It has been a very warm autumn and just a few leaves turning yellow. Hope that doesn't bode for a terrible winter. Grandma Great used to say if a season is unusual, the opposite one will be so, only worse.

    1. Tonight's weather report is for hard frost. Grandma Great may be right!

  2. What a lovely walk through the wood. The leaves have changed their colors here as well. And I love the shiny yellow of our big beech... even when I know that it will be me who has to rake and sweep all the leaves together at the end :o). Have a lovely day!

    1. There is a large horse chestnut tree beside our drive and I've been out sweeping every day. It's a task that I like. A big pile is already stored in the compost bin - with plenty more to come!
