Oh, the weather outside is frightful....

We've had strong winds thrashing through the trees and bringing down branches. This limb fell from the horse chestnut onto our driveway. Luckily there was no car parked there at the time!
On an optimistic note we now have plenty of kindling!
But the best place to be is tucked up indoors.

  1. Oh my goodness we had the same nasty weather today. It started nice with snow but soon changed in rain and slipperiness. Best to stay inside cosy near the fire.

    1. It's not good to be out, Janneke. Thank goodness for a log-burner stove!

  2. We've had some bad storms that took down lots of branches and lost power for some days. Lots of firewood though! Very charming pictures! I enjoy your blog.

    1. Thank you, Stephanie. It may look charming but it's miserably cold! The horse chestnut is on it's last legs, I think there will be more firewood soon if this freaky wind continues.

  3. Sorry to hear of the frightful weather, but the pictures are beautiful! Is the building in the first picture your home or an outbuilding? So lovely.

    1. The building is the former gamekeeper's store. The rafters are full of nails from which the game were hung. The windows had mesh covers but no glass so that the air could blow through. Now it's used as a carving room with glass windows and a stove. It's a lovely building.

    1. The first photo is the view from my kitchen door and the last one is from the kitchen window. I'm doing a lot of baking - it's the warmest place to be!

  5. Yikes, windstorms are scary. We had a branch come right through the living room window last year during a windstorm. Glad nothing was damaged! Though I hate to see trees fall apart like that!
