November

Most days the light levels are low, the air is moisture-laden and in the woods it's soggy underfoot.

But some lovely colour still hangs on the trees because, as yet, it hasn't been unduly cold.
Moss on the branches gives you a fair idea as to how much rain we get!

Every little glimpse of sunshine is welcome.

There are plenty of berries on the trees but experience has taught me that by the time I start to think about going out to gather them to decorate the house for Christmas the birds will have eaten the lot!

The days are short; time to load up the wood-burner and settle down with a good book.

  1. Oh how lovely! We are now in the grey days, which I love. The colour is all muted here. The birds haven't found the mistletoe - yet. Crossing fingers!

    1. I do like the rather magical mist that forms in late autumn but day after day of low light levels is a sinker for me - a good time to escape into literature!

    1. Suppose so, Janice! Once I'm well wrapped up I don't really mind what the weather throws at me.

  4. We have to go to the zoo to see swans here. At the far back of our garden in England was a canal and there was always a family of swans, I do miss that. Beautiful fall photos.

    1. I like it best when the swans fly over our house. Such a lovely sound as they move through the sky, it always seems like something from a folk tale.

  5. Lovely photos It's just like the the ones I take in the woods where I live, except we don't have swans here.

    2. I hope the berries are still there, although the weather is still mid here for the time of the year, the birds have beaten me for the ones I can reach. Oh well the birds need to be fed, I will have to take Mr France along with me to pick some from the higher branches. Show us your wreath when you've made it.

    1. I'm corny, so a Christmas card needs a bit of snow - or a robin. Today it's WET. :-(
