Spring?!!

There is plenty of colour popping up in the garden but it is hard to appreciate it while the weather is so wet and windy. I take a little wander between the downpours, in fair weather this is an enjoyable sring garden, the acid soil and the shade making happy growing conditions for a variety of early season plants.
The hellebores will hang their heads down. It's such a pity because it is difficult to see how lovely they are and they don't last long if I pick them to enjoy inside.
The camellias are taking a bit of a battering.
WE halved the height of a run of copper beech when we moved here and the result has been rather stumpy. I'm glad to see that they are now budding up well and should make a better shape this year when they come into leaf. (A visiting friend had said, 'dig 'em up!')
But the happiest plants at the moment are the ones, like me, that have a roof over their heads!

  1. The copper beech adds colour to your garden even when there is no green and no flowers, plus I imagine that small birds appreciate the hiding places when the row is in full leaf. I would certainly NOT dig them up!
I am amazed at your camellias; here, it would seem extremely early for them to bloom.

  2. Good to see the early colour in your garden. It does look rather wet though.

  3. Early flowers are so welcome. No camellias here, yet, but lots of hellebores. It's wet here, too.

  4. We were having unseasonably warm weather and then winter returned with a vengeance. But the dandelions and 10 petal anemones are blooming.

  5. So much color and bloom already! We are still black and white, but that should change as the snow melts this week.
Your indoor plants look happy indeed. What a perfect growing space you have there.

  6. We are still under 6 inches of snow, so it is with great pleasure that I view your pictures and anticipate the colors of Spring.
