Friday Skywatch

A poor apology for sunshine appeared for a brief while this afternoon and tempted me out of doors. It's a still, damp day with remnants of the morning mist.
My bones ache in weather like this.
Even so, it's good to be out.
Half past three and already the sun is sinking.

It's a rather monochrome world in Blighty at this time of year.

The leafless trees leave plenty of sky visible for Friday Skywatch.

They have felled a number of the mature trees around the lake and it opens the space up quite a bit. But when I  look at the cut trunks and see the rotten core I understand why it was necessary.

  1. Hi Rosemary :)) Your photos are so beautiful, my gosh I long for spring! (Me complaining again lol)...the lake with the mist and slight fog is gorgeous, I do love weather like that, but I always feel it in my hands and my knees. Hope you're not in too much pain!

    1. We shall just have to sit it out for a while yet, Rain. February is always my worst month when winter seems to be lasting for ever. Come March I'll be happily thinking about planting!

    2. I'm already thinking about planting! I'm going to try some flowers by the sunny window and hope the cold isn't too much for them! We still get snow up to May in the valley! When we finally move, I'm really going to take into consideration the zones and the length of the growing season.

  2. Beautiful photos! I can see how the cold and gloom would get to you after a while. Thanks for your comment on my blog... we indeed have very different weather in our parts of the world!!

    1. The mist has it's own attraction, but day after day of low light levels tends to lower my spirit. I look at your crisp, bright light with delight and a fair bit of envy!

    1. I think a horizon line etched with winter trees is a lovely sight. It was just a short walk - too long and the cold and damp seeps into you and it's hard to keep warm.

    1. It was, Lady Fi, not a soul about, just a few gulls moving about the water.
