Every first Sunday in the month the town of Frome closes its main roads to traffic and sets up stalls where local artisans can sell their wares. There's always a great atmosphere, and today, with the stalls full of Christmas goods, it was especially so. Various choirs and groups of carol singers entertained,
the three kings wandered about the market placeand street vendors were dressed in seasonal colours.
This shopper had decorated her hat with a strand of holly.
What a lovely outfit for a winter's day!
Ah, just what I was looking for, some lovely old crepe paper streamers!
Never mind, it's interesting just to look.
And it gives me a reason to come again another day!
What a wonderful way to spend a day. Oh I love the blue dress in the window! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThe trouble with many of those period dresses is the very dainty sizing!
DeleteWhat a lovely day out looking around all those wonderful shops and stalls - I do like the lady's hat with the holly on it - very festive:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple touch to add a length of holly but it made her whole outfit look festive. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the whole town.
DeleteDresses were so elegant in days gone by, weren't they? Love the ones in that last photo. Thank you for showing us a taste of Frome's Christmas street market; it's a shame we can't hear the choirs and singers, too. x
ReplyDeleteMy blogging ability is very basic, I've no idea how to add music. New Year resolution perhaps - learn more skills?
DeleteLooks like my kind of day out! I love all the handmade goods in these shots! Wishing you a wonderful week! Nicole
ReplyDeleteMy kind as well! It's very heartening to find so many creative and enthusiastic people, a great change from the endless repetition of goods on offer in the multinationals in our city centres.
DeleteOh My Goodness What a fabulous day out !
ReplyDeleteI would so like to be there.
cheers, parsnip
That would be good, Parsnip. There were lots of dogs there, bringing their owners, the small squares would fit in a treat!
DeleteHello Marie. I've been over to look at your blog and admired all the lovely things on display. I recognise quite a few of the containers! :-)-x
