The week has flown by and I've been wearing rose tinted spectacles, rather like the clouds above, because the weather has been dry and, at long last, I've been able to get into the garden and set to work on the vegetable plot. The soil is in good condition and the beds are starting to look quite respectable but it is too cold for planting just yet, the seeds would only rot in the ground. I've got an assortment of things coming on in the warmth of the kitchen and less delicate seeds starting up in the greenhouse. It's a lovely time of year and each day there is more spring colour to enjoy.
And today, especially for
Skywatch Friday, a whole rainbow,
looking quite aurora borea whatsit!
It was one big arc but I took the photographs from inside to avoid the rain and couldn't fit it all in from the house windows.
Now there is a storm outside, with rain drumming against the panes of glass. It's a nice sound, when you're warm and dry inside!
This is an amazing, beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you like my profile picture...my cat looking out from under the blanket! She does it often!
One very cute cat. I could easily hibernate throughout the winter months but now that spring is here I'm up and raring to go!
DeleteI think the sky performs specially for you on a Friday. With all the wet we have had over winter the soil is very workable now but I haven't started on planting the veg garden yet - though things are underway.
ReplyDeleteYes, quite often on Fridays I wake to a rather dull-looking day and think, 'not much to photograph for skywatch.' Then, because I am aware of the sky, something lovely appears, perhaps for just a few moments, that is worth capturing.
DeleteAll that beauty and a rainbow too. You are living my dream.
ReplyDeleteBut you would need to be living your dream in a very thick woolly with a jacket on top! (But the rainbows are being very obliging for the Friday skywatch.)
DeleteLovely group of photos!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think the skywatch blog such a great idea, I love to look at the images that people have posted from all around the world.
DeleteBeautiful tints in the clouds and rainbows are always a welcome sight. Looking forward to seeing your garden growl.
ReplyDeleteThe rainbow hung about just long enough for me to capture it.
DeleteA growling garden - there's a thought. Sometimes there is a groaning gardener in it!
Hi there
ReplyDeleteLovely photos especially the one from the garden. Spring has arrived in Switzerland too but at the moment I just see snow looking out of the window. We have escaped into the mountains for the Weekend. It's Relaxing here but I can't wait to get back to spring again :o).
Have a lovely Weekend.
Alex
Hello Alex, snow in the mountains sounds lovely. (One of my favourite books as a child was 'Heidi.')
DeleteYou've been busy lately producing so many nice things, (with the 'help' of your furry friend!) that a weekend away must be just the thing.
What an exquisite series. Thanks for taking us into your garden to view the skies:-)
ReplyDeleteBlogging can be a great excuse just to stand and gawp at the sky!
DeleteIt's hard to get picture of a rainbow they just do not long enough.
ReplyDeleteMerle........
If I'd been prepared to stand on the lawn in the rain then I would likely have fitted the whole arc in the frame.... but I chose to stay dry!
DeleteThanks so for sharing your beautiful garden and the lovely rainbow. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend is shaping up well, thank you, Janice, with friends to lunch and a daughter to dinner. Some sun, some rain, but a rather cold wind!
DeleteIt's always a special treat to see a rainbow. And it looks like a double one at that.
ReplyDeleteIt's also nice to see a spring that we have yet to see any signs of. There's talk of a big snow storm coming next week.
I'm starting to wonder about your white tiles and grouting - I think that you may have wished a world of white upon yourself! A BIG snow storm when you've surely had enough of the stuff. Looking on the bright side, it may be an opportunity to take some fabulous photos!
DeleteOh my gosh. It may be sunny where I live but it is dry and hot and all that damn sunshine can be very annoying. Take my word for it. I am drooling over your lush green garden full of rainbows and light and the smell of chlorophyll and earth. Mmmmmm
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea, Connie, how welcome the idea of warmth and sunshine is to me. We keep our home warm and cosy (at some expense!); the Aga is on the whole time and for about seven months of the year so is the heating from our air-source heat pump. Even so I am a cold bod, finding it difficult to be comfortably warm. I love my 'lush green' garden, it's a source of constant pleasure - but that bright green comes at a price!
DeleteLovely sky. It is raining here today. Hopefully I'll glimpse a rainbow.
ReplyDeleteOh, rain, tell me about it - it's tipping down here today! I hope you'll glimpse a rainbow, Denise.
