Shepherds' Delight.

"Red sky at night, shepherds' delight.
Red sky in the morning, shepherds' warning."
On Saturday evening the sky gave a brief but wonderful display of colour. And the old saying was correct because on Sunday, after weeks of rain, it was dry and the sun shone, ALL DAY!!!
I put on everything electrical to make the most of our solar energy - washing machine, dishwasher, dough hook bashing some bread in the Kenwood machine,  and I did a bit of ironing.
Today it's raining, the light level is abysmal. Yes, abysmal, that's the only word for it.
If you're living somewhere warm and sunny can I come and live with you?
Joining up with my little home and garden for her Sunlit Sunday.

    1. Don't they enlarge if you click on them? My computer skills are extremely limited, you'll notice that I only do small, medium or large, nothing clever. If I put all the side bar info at the bottom then I could enlarge the photos - ?

  2. Welcome to Sunlit Sunday. Your photographs of the sunset are beautiful, with all of the pink and lavender shades lighting up the night sky.

I'm impressed to hear that you run things on solar energy and hope that the rough weather you've been having passes.

Today, I can offer you some sunshine, but at -8 C the warmth you are seeking will have to be found elsewhere, not in my part of Canada.

I hope you enjoy visiting some of the other posts; people are generally very good about returning visits.

    Wishing you a lovely week,
    Karen

    1. We have been sunk for most of the winter under grey skies so this flash of colour was a real treat.

We have a few solar panels on the roof, mainly to provide electricity for the air source heat pump that heats the house and domestic hot water. We are trying to be green, but such low sun levels for so many months is making it difficult!
I am enjoying visiting other posts around the world and enjoying some of their sunshine so thank you for hosting, Karen.

    1. It lit up the sky for such a short while, just enough time to rush indoors and get my camera!

  5. We are on the other side of the world and have had rain in the last couple of days but we so needed it, we could take some more if you want to send it our way.

    1. I'm glad you've had a little of what was needed and, believe me, if I knew how to send you a whole load of my rainfall then I would!

  7. WOW! That's incredible.

We have the same saying although it's for sailor's delight and warning. We're having more snow tomorrow so I'm looking for some red skies any evening soon.

    1. Curious how these old sayings shift as they travel about the world.
Snow can be a misery when you have to battle to work through it. But I know you - you'll take some fabulous photos if it comes in deep. Or should I be writing 'deeper'?!
