Flowers in the house

I'm so glad that Jane hosts flowers in the house. Today it got me out into the garden (in the rain!) to see if there was anything that I could bring into the house - and there was!
Roses in January! Bedraggled, yes, but even so a cheerful sight. We have had only a couple of overnight frosts so far but no seriously cold weather so one or two plants are chancing their arm with a bit of unseasonal flowering. We've had winds and wet aplenty, however, so the garden is in a sorry state.
I got two small posies from the bits that I found.
Enough to cheer me up considerably.

I used my new secateurs, a Christmas present from Wee One. They feel lovely in the hand. Good tools are so satisfying.
There is a fresh flowering stem on my tiny orchid
and the larger plant is now in its third year of flowering!
All my other decorations are back in the attic but I couldn't quite make myself dismantle the blue glass hearts!
For Jane's flowers in the house at small but charming.

  1. What lovely flowers! I really looked confused, when I found blooming roses here too... the weather is really crazy at the moment.
The secateurs looks great... so shiny and new. I guess in my hands it wouldn't look that shiny for long :o).
    Have a lovely evening

    1. I think some of the plants will regret being so forward if or when the cold sets in!

  4. All very nice indeed Rosemary. If one looks closely enough, there is always something nice to be found out there isn't there? And you have raided the Viburnum bodnantense I see. I haven't seen one in flower here yet, but they are coming.

  11. Flowers in the house!!! We're having a bit of a drought here in California and I'm a bit concerned about my fleurs! And by the way. You are not ancient! Sydney Bechet! You were hip before it was hip to be hip! Petit Fleurs. I love that song.
