Another dry day
I went to the allotment to harvest some veg. What a sorry sight it is. I chucked a few buckets of water around the pear tree and under the squash plants but to little effect. Many of the plots look as though they have been completrly abandoned.
Daughter was home from London for the weekend so we packed our swimsuits and headed for the beach. We went early, before the weekend crowds and had a wonderful swim in calm waters. We set up a small windbreak but have yet to purchase a rubber hammer!
Aah, just the job!
We left just as it was starting to get busy and spent a lazy day at home.

Sounds like a perfect day although I know you want rain.
ReplyDeleteSTILL waiting for rain!
DeleteIt's good to get a day of relaxation! We need rain here in Montreal, badly, we have high heat, humidity and bad air quality from the wildfires.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely! Thank you so much for sharing.
It sounds as though we are experiencing much the same conditions. Fine for the beach but not much else!
DeleteA sandy beach! Looks like a great way to spend a summers day. I do like the idea of a windbreak. It gives you a bit of privacy too
ReplyDeleteIt is six miles of wonderful, fine sandy beach and a windbreak is good when I'm fighting my way out of a soggy swimsuit!
DeleteBeauty on the beach!
ReplyDeleteSorry that the allotment is suffering from lack of rain. It has been the opposite in Germany, and my sister worries about what she will find on hers when we return on Sunday.
Such strange weather patterns. We are saving sink and bath water, sink water for the compost bin and bath for the flower pots. The allotment is a sorry sight. Hopes have moved to next year!!
DeleteSuch a shame about the allotments. People lose heart, understandably.
ReplyDeleteLovely time on the beach - windbreaks are such a good idea.
The windbreak is a game changer, it makes even a crowded beach acceptable.
DeleteSo sad about the allotment. No rain can be so stressful and discouraging. We suffered through that last year and it was not pleasant at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall a draught as extreme as this one ever before. We were previously living a bit more up country which makes a difference. The allotment is a sad picture but at least the weeds are parched and failing also!
DeleteWe're entering the dog days of summer when everything looks tired and abandoned.
ReplyDeleteIncluding me, Ellen.
DeleteAwwwww..... poor plants. When it's so hot & trying to keep up with watering to no avail, most people would indeed give up. Can't blame them. And look at you in that sweet pink bathing suit. You're rockin' it, my friend. Good for you! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThere are all shapes and sizes on the beach so why should I care. (But avoiding a close-up!)
