November lockdown

Rain and stiff bones have kept me out of the garden and when I walk out there now I can see how much there is to do. It's a mess, with fallen leaves and rotting vegetation that needs to be cleared away.

In amongst the chaos there are still some splashes of colour to enjoy.

In the veg garden the chard is putting on a good display - it's a pity that Himself is not too keen on eating the stuff!

I'm still cropping a few mange tout and  the winter veg, leeks, sprouts and cabbage are all coming on stream.

Another flush of blossom on my climbing 'Iceberg' rose.

What a delight!

In the kitchen I'm still using the lemons. This is a favourite recipe.

LEMON CHEESE TART

Shortcrust pastry to line a flan case.

Cream 2 oz margarine with 4 oz sugar until light.

Add 4 oz cottage cheese,  1 oz flour, one egg yolk and the grated rind and juice of one lemon.

Whisk the white of egg until stiff and add to the mixture.

Spread into the pastry case and bake gas mark 6 for about half an hour.

Enjoy!

  1. It doesn't look messy at all, your garden is beautiful no matter what!
And roses in bloom in November - how wonderful is that!
I can almost smell that lemon cheese tart.

    1. The photos gloss over the weeds, root bound flower clumps and general debris.
I'm delighted with the roses, they are tougher than I am, flowering away in some really grim weather!

  2. That time of year when there seems so much to do and that it will never be done. Yet it is. Every year, bit by bit, we usually get there by January.

    1. I'll agree about the roses and the tart but the rest of it needs a lot of attention and isn't getting any of it while the rain beats down!

  5. Your garden still looks beautiful, Rosemary. I love your arbor.

I have slowly been dismantling mine, but it is so hard to cut down plants that are still blooming. Cold is coming soon, and I don't want to be out in that plus the wind, so I have to finish soon.

    1. I'm in need of a few fine days to get some essential jobs done, tulips still to plant, then everything else will have to wait until spring.

    1. The recipe says to sieve the cottage cheese so that there are no lumps but I never bother. It is tasty straight from the oven, but just as good cold.
Arthritis sets in with the damp weather, but some days are better than others and I always prefer to be outside doing something rather than inside feeling I'm getting old!

  7. I really want to thank Dr Emu for saving my marriage. My wife really treated me badly and left home for almost 3 month this got me sick and confused. Then I told my friend about how my wife has changed towards me. Then she told me to contact Dr Emu that he will help me bring back my wife and change her back to a good woman. I never believed in all this but I gave it a try. Dr Emu casted a spell of return of love on her, and my wife came back home for forgiveness and today we are happy again.
