Skywatch. September harvest.

We are having gentle September weather with misty mornings and fairly low light levels.
There is plenty to harvest in the veg garden.
Beans, beans, beans.
Escapee courgettes have turned into giant marrows and squash have infiltrated the space for other crops. Some un-named squash climbing up the sweetcorn.
I find what has been hidden underneath as the leaves die back.
I've been making chutney with an assortment of fruit and veg, plums, marrow, figs, onions, you name it, it's in the chutney! Rather an eye-watering mix as it bubbles on the hob, but by Christmas I'm hoping it will taste rather good!
I've looked in vain in the small garden pond in search of my merry band of newts. Not one to be seen since the visit of the grass snake. I'm very miffed.
Here's my sky seen in the water to share with Skywatch Friday.

  1. Oh that chutney is beautiful. You still have much in the garden. We have our first misty morn of the autumn. Sure sign of fall.

    1. Yes, we are greedy eaters at this time of year, but things are going over and now I'm leaving some of the plants to set seed which I'll use next year.

    1. If you lived nearby, Bill, I'd be offloading some large courgettes on you - the ones that got away. The neighbours have had enough of them!

    1. We are eating very well from the garden just now, Janneke, but the whole garden is in need of a great deal of attention after such an extreme summer. Dead trees and bushes to remove, patches of lawn to re-seed and clogged borders to sort out. I'm feeling rather overwhelmed!

  7. It seems you must have kept a few plants alive... Such bounty.
With your chutney it sounds like you like cook a bit of everything. Must look up how to make it.

    1. As is always the case in a garden, Parsnip, there have been successes and failures! Hoping the chutney will be good but it takes a good three months to mature so I shall have to wait to find out.
