Happy and sad.

As promised, yesterday was lovely, the sun shining all day, although with a bitter wind it offered no warmth. We wrapped up well and had a walk, the sun had thawed the frost just enough to have us slithering about in mud. In spite of that it was lovely to be out in bright light. In the afternoon I cooked, preparing a farewell supper for our neighbours who are moving to Devon, (taking their beautiful white kittens with them!) How I'm going to miss them all.
Six of us had a lovely evening, good company with lots of laughter and good-natured teasing, everything that I most enjoy.
I cooked duck. "Got it from the lake?"Leander asked.
It was a cold, clear night
and at the end of the evening we lit some fireworks.
Friendship is to be celebrated.

  1. It is always sad when neighbours who have become friends move away. The same thing happened to us a couple of months ago - I really miss them, our new neighbour is nice but it takes time to form a friendship doesn't it.

  2. Farewell is always sad. But now you have a good reason to travel to Devon and a reason to give a cat a home, if you haven't already ;o). Have a lovely Sunday.

    1. The fireworks were ridiculous as they took a fair bit of lighting, promoting lots of oohs and then aahs. Can't tell you how glum I feel now.

    2. Thank you, for this & your comment left over my way this AM. I replied to you there, but do hope you find your happy sometime soon! :-) I'm pretty unusually happy for this time of year, but losing neighbors, especially good ones, is distressing... Houses up for sale around me yet again. Another round!?!

      Smiles your way.
