The American Museum garden, Bath.

Yesterday we went to the American Museum in Bath where our friend Janet Haigh was holding her book launch. It is a handsome house
in a beautiful setting, looking out over a very English valley of green fields and hedges,
rather a strange setting in which to find an Indian tipi!
George Washington's 'Mount Vernon Garden' is also here,
recreated as a gift from the Colonial Dames of America.
It's a lovely space in which to wander.

I wonder if there is a Colonial Dame of America Blogger who can tell me how accurate this 'Mount Vernon' is?

    1. There is a lovely atmosphere at this museum. (It may be disrupted shortly when they re-enact the American Civil War!) Glad you enjoyed the outing, Doc. I'm posting the folk art room over on Miss Cellany.

  2. I have never been to Mount Vernon although it is only about 3 hours away. You make me want to visit now. The picture with the Verbena (?) and Cosmos (?) is stunning.

    1. Yes, verbena and cosmos together with a dark red dahlia. I hope that you will visit the actual Mount Vernon some day, Maybe, and then tell me about it.

    1. Yes, it is , Lady Fi. This is the place that got me interested in growing herbs when I first visited about forty years ago! There are lots of lovely things in the museum itself which I shall photograph next time I visit, probably around Christmas when there will be special decorations.

  4. I last visited this garden about 50 years ago. I think it is time I returned!
