Going greener!

Yesterday the sun shone and there was no cold wind. Everything stood up straight and smiled in the warmth and the birdsong was glorious.
We received a phone call at breakfast, the firm scheduled to see us next month had had a cancellation, they were in the area, could they come round in twenty minutes? Yes they could.
So now we are prepared to be a little bit greener because we have our own power point in the garage for charging an electric car!
The hedge on our northern boundary is kept well clipped, but this spring the spiky, prickly section of it has evaded the demon barber and burst into blossom. I think it looks lovely. "DON'T cut it back just yet!"
So Himself concentrated on giving the bay tree a bit of a haircut instead.

Today it is bitterly cold and I've only had the briefest possible foray into the garden to pick some flowers.
There's a good choice of colour to be found now

  1. Kudos to you on the electric car plug in!

Your camellias are so soothing to look at.

    1. Quite when I'll get the car to plug into it has yet to be decided!
Yes, those camellia blooms give me great pleasure.

  2. Oh, you have a Mr. Perfect at home - what a great topiarygardener!
Yesterday it was warm here - and I had heyfever.

    1. 'Mr Perfect'. Mmm? Not quite. He's the man who passed on his horrible virus. I'm still coughing and wheezing, with red, sore eyes, so I do sympathise with your hay fever. Poor you, Sigrun, I hope that the condition doesn't last long and that you will be able to be outside enjoying the warmer weather.

  3. LOL! Hubby had to go to the other side of the country for work for a week and brought me back what right now feels like a horrible virus as his souvenir! I'm getting better but all achy, chilly and up in the wee hours, so came back to look at your camellias again to ease my grumbling. Am thinking perhaps I ought to get some camellias of my own! I love them so. Thanks for sharing yours.

    1. What is it with these men that they can't just keep their nasty viruses to themselves? I shan't describe the stage that my cold is at now (but only because I'm not too sure how to spell catarrh!)
Prepare to be bowled over by the beauty of auriclas, one of my favourite flowers - I shall soon be sharing!

    1. Some jobs in the garden he is good at. Others.... He is NOT a gardener and good at such things as standing on the very plant I have been nurturing for months!

  5. Your garden is looking heavenly and the flowers are in the house are so lovely.

Love the blue vase with viburnum and narcissus, and the camellias....little rounds of perfection.

Can I borrow your husband? Minus the virus of course.

    1. Borrow the man? We are talking here about a man with NO gardening skills whatsoever. But if you want a bit of muscle to bang things in, pull things out, saw things down, clip stuff you don't want along with stuff that you do (clematis over the porch got the mighty swipe yesterday) then he's your man. Feel free!

  6. Your husband did a great clipping job there, the photos of the flowers are lovely as are the flowers themselves.

  7. After my comments above I shall be gracious and say, yes, he did a good job on the bay tree. The garden is changing daily, the perennial borders suddenly looking very lush. I am reading your posts with interest to see what flourishes at the other side of the world. Your 'natives' seem very exotic to me!
