Pyromaniac

We've had a huge mountain of debris awaiting a bonfire for months but such unsuitable weather for even thinking of putting a match to the pile. But, after a spell of cold, dry days, we got to work and a day and a night later we were down to this small amount of smoky rubbish.
A successful bonfire, oh, joy! (A day later and it's still burning.)

    1. A bonfire is one of the most satisfying things. The ever growing pile of debris that we had accumulated over the past few months was a very depressing sight. (I've got two big compost areas, I only burn absolute rubbish.)

    1. Oh, yes, the smell, Connie, along with the nice crackling noises and the red glow in the centre that tells you it's all going well.

  3. I love the scent too. I wish I could burn things.

    1. We have quite strict regulations regarding bonfires but I just wait for a west wind so that no smoke can blow over the village. (Ssh - bit of a rebel!)

    2. Isn't blogging strange - some bloggers you have an immediate affinity with and feel you know really well. Might be completely wrong of course!

  4. I love bonfires! They are especially wonderful during this time of the year. They feed the soul - they have this magic about them! After you go home and just fall happily into bed! Thanks for your comments on my blog! I shall put you on my blog list! Christa

    1. Yes, they are rather magical. I feel a bit like a white witch when I stoke and poke at my bonfires - enormously satisfying.

  5. I would love to be able to have a good bonfire, I love them. About a week ago, I started one up in the incinerator, all was going well, and then somebody in the distance angrily shouted that they had their washing out......rats!

    1. Rats indeed. I'm always a bit miffed if the wind changes direction and I have to douse a promising fire before it chokes all the village. Mine burnt for another whole day. Joy!
