Flowers in the house

Tiny winter posies are so reassuring. Snowdrops must be tough as old boots to survive in this weather. They are out there in the garden carpeting the ground. I've brought a few stalks into the house and here they are looking pristine and delicate. I don't know how they do it!
The regular houseplants are also performing well.
This orchid has been flowering for years. I ignore it for weeks and then soak it in tepid rain water, drain off and leave it dry for another long while.
I'm giving it's tiny companion the same rough treatment and it seems to be responding well. This is its second spray of flowers.
The white roses are STILL flowering, the free pot of daffodils coming into bloom and, oh, just smell the hyacinth!
Hearts in various forms are creeping into the house,  Valentine's Day coming soon!

    1. I've got three pots of hyacinths in different rooms and you are right, Connie, they are perfuming the house wonderfully.

    1. Orchids used to be very expensive and seem so very exotic but now they are available at all the supermarkets for just a few pounds. They are so tempting. I can hear them calling, "buy me!" whenever I walk by!
Makes us feel so green-fingered when they re-bloom!

    1. Dear Jane, can you do the linky thing where all the images we send in to you are displayed together on your blog in little snapshots? I haven't the foggiest idea how it's done, but it would be nice to see the mass of flowers and how we were's all together!

  4. After killing so many plants, it would seem that an orchid might survive here.

    1. I used to think that orchids were very tricky, and perhaps some varieties are, but the few that I have seem to be as tough as old boots.

    1. Flowers in the house, whatever they are, really lift the spirits. I love looking at Jane's blog to see what's flowering in other parts of the world.

  8. The blooms are lovely. My flowers all come from my favorite shop as it is far too cold for anything to successfully bloom. My lilac and quince has buds, but the last bout of ice and snow covered them. I have been thinking of you. Are you in the areas receiving torrential rains and high winds. Be safe. Bonnie

  9. Thank you for your thoughts, Bonnie. We live on a hill and are keeping warm and dry, unlike the poor souls on the nearby Somerset levels. Today the road in our village was blocked by fallen trees for several hours but no damage done.
